The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has announced a new 3-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IBM, aimed at enhancing accessibility and cost-efficiency for public sector organisations using IBM's hardware, software, cloud, and services.

Building upon a previous agreement inked in 2020, this updated MoU extends its coverage to encompass a comprehensive range of world-class IBM products. One of its primary objectives is to provide UK public sector customers with a competitive baseline of pricing, leveraging the collective public sector spending to achieve substantial returns.

The latest MoU includes several significant benefits for CCS customers. Firstly, it offers discounted pricing for sustainability software, supporting the Carbon Net Zero plans of public sector organisations as they seek to reduce their carbon footprint. This move reflects a commitment to environmental responsibility in the public sector.

Moreover, in response to the growing cybersecurity concerns, CCS customers will have access to increased cybersecurity offerings under the agreement. This enhancement aims to bolster the resilience of public sector entities against cyber threats and safeguard sensitive data.

Addressing the technology skills gaps prevalent in the sector, the MoU also presents a valuable opportunity for public sector employees. They can now benefit from free training and secondment opportunities, aligning with the government's agenda to bridge the technology skills divide and ensure a capable workforce.

In a further push towards fostering innovation and encouraging digital transformation, eligible public sector entities will have access to free innovation projects. Through these projects, they can test and explore how IBM's products and services can be effectively utilised to meet their specific requirements, leading to potentially ground-breaking advancements in public services.

This renewed partnership between CCS and IBM signifies a significant step forward in streamlining public sector operations, enhancing cybersecurity, promoting sustainability, and empowering employees with essential skills. By leveraging IBM's cloud and software solutions through this MoU, the public sector is poised to embark on a journey of efficiency, cost-effectiveness and innovation.
